How to change your WordPress language

How to change your WordPress language ? While the default WordPress site language is English, it’s fully translated and installed with quite 65 languages and translations for quite 160 languages.

Note that changing the WordPress site language translates the language displayed within the dashboard and a few text displayed in themes. It doesn’t translate post or page content.

To Change the language in WordPress Dashboard you have to login WordPress and go to Settings > General.

In the Site Language dropdown list, select the language you would like to use, then click Save Changes. If the language you would like isn’t within the list, continue with the steps in Manually installing a language.

Manually installing a language

If the language you would like to use isn’t included in your installation, you’ll download the language file from the WordPress website and install it manually. during this example, we’re installing the [Albanian] language.

Download the language file from the WordPress translation team

Open a new tab in browser and go to the WordPress translation team website  and Choose the language which you want to install.

Click on the percentage Sign under Glotpress.

In the Set / Sub Project column, click the WordPress version number for your installation.

During this example, version 4.9 has the event status, which suggests the interpretation is complete but hasn’t completed testing.

Scroll down to last of the project page. select Machine Object Message Catalog (.mo) as the export file type and click on Export. The .mo file is downloaded and saved on your local computer.

How to Install the language file ?

Login to Your Cpanel > https://www.domainname.com/cpanel

Then, Click on the File Manager in Cpanel

Now you have to open your wp-content/languages folder. If you don’t find any languages folder in wp-content then, click on +Folder Button on top and create a new folder.

Open your Folder and click on the Upload Option.

Select the .mo file you downloaded from the WordPress translation team website to the upload page or Simply Drag the File. When the upload is finished, you can sign off of cPanel.

Now, Choose the Uploaded language in the WordPress dashboard as discussed above using your wp Dashboard.
